The greatest need of the evangelical community today is to learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Because simply looking at the sermons and seeing the techniques and methods of church growth and all the other things I see, I can only reach only one conclusion: We do not know the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
See what we have done:
We go to a man and say: You know you are a sinner? If he says yes, we go to the next question. Would you like to go to heaven? If he says yes, we go to the next question. Would you like to ask Jesus Christ into your heart? If he says yes, and make that prayer we asked him if he was sincere. Veja o que temos feito:
Nós vamos a um homem e dizemos: Você sabe que é um pecador? Se ele disser "sim", nós vamos para a próxima pergunta. Você gostaria de ir para o céu? Se ele disser "sim", nós vamos para a próxima pergunta. Você gostaria de pedir para Jesus Cristo entrar no seu coração? Se ele disser "sim", e fizer aquela oração nós perguntamos a ele se ele foi sincero. E se ele disser "sim", de pronto já (na verdade a expressão usada é papalmente eu tenho usado a tradução de forma papal o que você acha?) o declaramos nascido de novo.
Isto não é o evangelho de Jesus Cristo. E essa metodologia no evangelismo tem causado mais estrago neste país do que qualquer heresia introduzida por todas as seitas juntas.
Milhões de pessoas neste país cujas vidas nunca foram transformadas acreditam que elas são nascidas de novo, porque nós reduzimos tanto o evangelho de Jesus Cristo, que ele agora não significa nada mais que uma simples decisão que vai tomar apenas 5 minutos do seu tempo.
Vamos analisar (acho um termo melhor para a ocasião) isso por um momento: Você sabe que é um pecador? Se a pessoa disser sim, o que isso significa? Absolutamente nada! Vá perguntar ao diabo se ele sabe que ele é um pecador. Ele vai dizer sim eu sou e sou muito bom nisso.
A questão não é: Você sabe que é um pecador?. A questão é: Desde que você tem ouvido a pregação do evangelho, Deus tem operado de tal forma em seu coração que o pecado que você amava você agora odeia? Esta é a questão.
A questão não é: Você gostaria de ir para o céu? Todo mundo quer ir para o céu, eles só não querem que Deus esteja lá quando eles chegarem lá. A questão não é: Você gostaria de ir para o céu? A questão é: Desde que o evangelho tem sido pregado a você, o Deus todo-poderoso tem feito uma obra soberana e sobrenatural em seu coração que o Deus que você odiava e ignorava você agora deseja e estima como digno acima de todas outras coisas.
E por último: Você gostaria de fazer uma oração pedindo para Jesus entrar no seu coração? Você será duramente pressionado a encontrar base bíblica para esta pergunta no Novo Testamento.
Você pode dizer: Ah não, lá diz: receba Ele. Você honestamente acha que quando a Bíblia fala de receber Cristo, ela está falando de balbuciar algum rito evangélico? Quando ela fala de receber Cristo, é através do arrependimento e fé. Não é recebê-Lo como algum acessório em sua vida, é recebê-Lo como o próprio sustentador da sua vida. Cristo não é algo que faz sua vida melhorar, Cristo é a sua vida! Ele é sua vida!
Jesus não veio e disse no evangelho de Marcos: O tempo está cumprido e é chegado o reino de Deus, agora quem gostaria de orar me convidando para entrar em seu coração. Ao invés disso Ele disse: Arrependei-vos e crede no evangelho (Marcos 1:15).
